From Sidekick to Hero - Cardigan DIY

Okay I admit it. I’m a cardigan-addict. There, now where can I find the next support-group..?
But seriously, a cardigan can be your helper in times of need, when it’s too cold outside to only wear a shirt or to support a fancy top. However, this little helper normally stays in the background, you could call it the Robin to your Batman, the Watson to your Sherlock Holmes, the – you know what I mean. This is why I decided to turn the tables and to make the sidekick to your hero:

How to pimp your cardigan

What you need:

cardigan in your colour of choice

satin ribbon in a fitting colour

hem tape (normally used to adhere hems)

mixed old buttons (ask grandma or get them here: www.dawanda.de)

  1. Measure the desired length of your satin ribbon and seal off the ends by sewing them or adhering them with hem tape
  2. Depending on the size of your buttons enlarge the button holes with a scissor
  3. Iron the hem tape onto the band of button holes, then place the ribbon on it and iron it again
  5. With a scissor cut the ribbon where the button holes used to be
  6. Sew the button holes by hand or with your sewing machine (if you have one)
  8.  Cut off the existing buttons on your cardigan and stitch on the buttons of your choice

Now you’re ready to go!
